We are very pleased to announce that we have set-up a stove donation program for children in the Kibera slum (Nairobi, Kenya). By donating only 40 USD via our website (http://ecozoomstove.com/pages/donate-a-stove) you will able to help a family in Kibera for 5 years!
What are the benefits for the families?
By giving a stove to a family you will give them the opportunity to:
About Kibera and the children we support
Kibera (Nairobi) is the largest urban slum in Africa. Most of Kibera slum residents live in extreme poverty, earning less than $1.00 per day. Unemployment rates are high, there are few schools and most people cannot afford an education for their children.
Since most families cannot afford education for their children, Jairus Makambi started the Cheery Children Education Centre (http://www.cheerycentre.org) which enables children from some of the poorest families to get an education for a small fee. The fee does not cover the full cost of delivering the education so the school is dependent on external support & donations.
We want to enable these children and their families to improve their lives by saving up to $200 a year and by living healthier. In this way we can give them a chance to improve their lives and maybe once they can afford a better life themselves!
Why are we doing this?
Although we really believe in a market-based approach there will always be groups of people who will not get access to this market. The school kids and their families are such a group.
Every time you donate a stove we are able to help a family in need (for 5 years)! Your help is highly appreciated!
Thank you!
