When You Can't Stand the Heat...Cook with an EcoZoom Rocket Stove

Hot summer days can zap any motivation you have to cook a hot meal, but EcoZoom stoves provide an outdoor cooking alternative that can keep you cooking regardless of outside temperatures. A came home a few nights ago to find the neighbors that live in our adjoined duplex eating outside on the front steps with a group of friends. We were in the middle of a heat wave here on the West coast with temperatures in the high 90’s, which forced this group to forego any cooking, get takeout, and eat outside. (I know, this isn’t that hot compared to a lot of places around the country, but for us here in the Pacific Northwest it is!). While summer heat can make cooking seem like quite a chore, remember you have options. One avenue to take is eating a cold meal, like a chilled pasta salad. While the cool meal may be soothing on hot days, you may still have to do some cooking, like boiling pasta or sautéing vegetables. Others will turn to their handy barbeque, either fueled by propane or charcoal. This is a great alternative to cooking inside and also an iconic American style of cooking outdoors with friends and family during the summer months. Even so, tending a barbeque can be hot and smoky depending on what you are cooking and how much tending it requires, leaving the cook with beads of sweat dripping down their brow. In this case, it’s not just the drumsticks that are getting cooked, but also the grill-master. This is where cooking on an EcoZoom stove can come in handy. The rocket stove design allows for efficient cooking with less smoke being emitted. The time spent next to the stove will only be for tending your meal rather than fidgeting with the stove, and with the reduction in smoke you are less likely to have to suffer the effects of any added heat or smoke in your eyes.

Using charcoal fuel with the EcoZoom Versa allows for little stove tending and easy temperature regulation

The insulation within the stove provides protection from the roughly 20,000 BTUs the stove is generating, not only so you aren’t accidently burned from touching the stove, but also so you can stay close to the stove without overheating. The insulated design of EcoZoom stoves provide maximum efficiency and power for transmitting heat to your pot or pan, resulting in far less heat escaping from the stove. Cooking with charcoal on the EcoZoom Versa can be the ideal summer cooking solution since you don’t have to tend to the stove once it is lit, it can put out up to 23,000 BTUs, the temperature can be controlled with the bottom damper door, and the charcoal is fully contained without worries inside the insulated combustion chamber. So next time you find yourself having to deal with sweltering temperatures on a sunny day, remember that you can still cook a hot meal without having to overheat inside the kitchen or out. EcoZoom insulated rocket stoves are carefully designed to transfer heat to your pots and pans instead of making you overheat while tending the fire. So put your sweatbands away, pour yourself a cold one, and enjoy cooking outdoors on a nice summer day.   About the Author: is an EcoZoom employee and likes to cook outdoors with his EcoZoom stove on camping trips or sunny days.
